Traditional datacenter architectures use separate compute (servers) and storage, which are connected by separate networks. Usually, those networks are storage area network (SAN) or network attached storage (NAS).
Those networks have improved the inefficiencies of direct attached server storage (DAS), however, they do not share data across multiple servers. While SAN and NAS based architectures are still the mainstream of enterprise datacenters, they are straining under the demands of a modern virtual environment. They simply were not designed to handle the exponential growth of virtual machines and the resulting I/O need of today’s enterprise.
The Nutanix Solution
The Nutanix Xtreme Computing Platform is a converged infrastructure and scale out solution that consolidates the compute (server) tier and the storage tier into a single appliance. Nutanix uses the same design principles and technologies that power top-notch IT companies such as Google, Facebook and Amazon.
The Nutanix solution is radically simple compared to traditional datacenter infrastructures.
- Powerful off-the-shelf hardware
- Deployment in under 30 minutes
- Works with legacy components and tools
- No disruption to ongoing operations
- Easily scales
- Reduces the cost and complexity of your compute and storage system
- Delivers advanced, enterprise-class storage capabilities
The modular building-block architecture of the product allows organizations to start with small deployments and grow incrementally into very large cluster installations. With one Nutanix appliance, you can move from a small operation to handling large-scale virtual desktop projects, test and development applications, big data (Hadoop) projects, and much more.
High scalability and flexibility
The Nutanix Distributed File System (NDFS) takes a big-data approach with a MapReduce framework and adds virtualization support features to enable unprecedented flexibility, performance, and scalability in enterprise datacenters.
The Nutanix Xtreme Computing Platform integrates high-performance server resources with enterprise-class storage in a cost-effective 2U appliance. It eliminates the need for network-based storage architecture, such as a storage area network (SAN) or network-attached storage (NAS).
The Nutanix software architecture delivers nearly unbounded and linear scale-out capabilities, making it easy to move from early-stage proof-of-concept testing to full production. Dynamic clustering enables compute and storage to scale one node at a time, eliminating the need to overprovision the infrastructure. This simple building block approach delivers unrivaled predictability when forecasting future datacenter costs and equipment requirements. Nutanix takes the guesswork out of datacenter planning.
As a primary distributor of Nutanix Xtreme Computing Platform products, Macnica Networks is ready for evaluations and proof-of-concepts based on customers’ needs and use cases. Our converged infrastructure solution specialist will powerfully support customers’ system planning, deployment and operation.
Nutanix provides datacenter infrastructure solutions that are hyper-efficient, massively scalable and elegantly simple. The award-winning Nutanix Xtreme Computing Platform has disrupted the market by seamlessly and natively converging compute and storage in a single appliance. Headquartered in San Jose, Calif. with offices and authorized solution providers throughout the world, Nutanix is privately held and backed by top-tier VC firms.
